Crystal Renee Young of Texarkana, who pleaded guilty to shooting her sister in the leg while a child played in the same room, may not get the sentence she hoped for because she continues to use methamphetamine.

“Ms. Young, I have reviewed the PSI (presentence investigation) in this case and I notice you admitted to using meth as little as three weeks ago on March 7, 2008,” Bowie County District Judge Ralph Burgess said at a hearing Monday. “Drug use creates an issue the court’s got to address, not only for your rehabilitation but for protection of the community.”
