The Texarkana, Ark., Police Department will participate in a statewide crackdown on underage drinking this weekend.

Officers will be looking for all drunken drivers with an emphasis on violators of Arkansas’ underage DUI law, which makes it illegal for anyone under age 21 to drive with a blood-alcohol concentration of .02 or above, said Sgt. Michael McQuerrey.

As part of the effort, the state Department of Education has distributed posters to public high schools urging them to make their students aware of this initiative to keep young drivers safe.
