A Texarkana, Texas, police officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after he was arrested Wednesday on a charge of assault causing bodily injury.

Officer Cody Ray Tipps, 29, was arrested by detectives Wednesday after Judge Nancy Talley issued a misdemeanor arrest warrant, said Sgt. Shawn Fitzgerald, a spokesman for the Texarkana, Texas, Ppolice Department.

Tipps will remain on leave pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation by the department.
