An Arkansas High School special education teacher surrendered to police Friday after allegations of sexual assault surfaced, school officials confirmed.

The Texarkana, Ark., Police Department charged Brenda Shellene “Shelly” Fant, 31, with first-degree sexual assault. She is accused of having sex with a male student, according to a police report. The alleged incident did not occur on campus.
