For undisclosed reasons, the mayor of Wake Village fired Chief of Police Tony Estes Thursday afternoon.

“I can tell you this was very much warranted,” said Mayor Mike Huddleston in a telephone interview Friday with the Gazette. “This was not a hurriedly made decision.”

Estes could not be reached for comment Friday.
