A South Carolina trucker might not have intended to leave the interstate, but there was little room for him to doubt he had taken Exit 12, especially since the green highway sign was wedged to his windshield.

Theron Inman, 28, of Simpsonville, S.C., was driving a Peterbilt semi east on Interstate 30 when, he alleges, a blue Nissan car drove out the wrong way on the off ramp to enter eastbound traffic.
