Texarkana man gets six years in investment fraud case
A man who swindled his friends and family out of more than $1 million by pretending to invest their savings was sentenced Tuesday to more than six years in federal prison.
Mark Wayne Jaster, 48, of Texarkana, Texas, pretended to invest other people’s savings, but was eventually found to be spending the money on his own lavish lifestyle, according to testimony. “I want to tell Mr. Jaster just how offensive I find his apology,” said Dr. Celeste Vardaman of Dallas, who lost more than $500,000 to the convicted swindler.
