Rebecca Gregory has been confirmed as the new U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

The U.S. Senate made the confirmation Tuesday.

She replaces John L. Ratcliffe, who announced Tuesday he is leaving for a job in the private sector.

Ratcliffe was appointed chief of Anti-Terrorism and National Security for the federal district in December 2004.

In May 2007, he replaced Matt Orwig when he became the Eastern District’s U.S. attorney.
