‘Hold on to your drawers’A blown tire on 18-wheeler leads to fire on highway
What began as a blown tire quickly grew to a full-fledged fire that completely burned a 2000 model Freightliner on Interstate 30 westbound lane Thursday morning.
Bob Hash, 53, and his nephew Mark Hash, 38, of Panther Transportation were on their way to Temple, Texas, with a load of industrial cellophane when their tire blew out approximately one-quarter mile from Exit 7 near Mandeville. “I went to pull the rig over and yelled (at Mark), ‘Hold on to your drawers,’” said Bob Hash.
