LINDEN, Texas—A two-day manhunt for the suspect in the killing of a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper ended Thursday in Cass County with a police standoff and the man killing himself.

Brandon Wayne Robertson, 37, of Tyler, Texas, shot himself in an abandoned barn just off Club Lake Road near Linden, authorities said. His body was found about 5 p.m. Thursday, an hour after dozens of police officers descended on the building.

“Robertson killed himself as authorities closed in on his location,” said DPS spokesman Sylvia Jennings.
