Slain Texas trooper’s family issues public statement

Spokesman thanks community for its support; funeral is today

Linden, Texas—Mayor Kenny Hamilton, a cousin of slain Department of Public Service Trooper Scott Burns, thanked people Friday for “the prayers, love and support extended to them at this tragic time.”

“It is at times like this the words family, friends and community are defined,” he said.

Before a somber gathering of approximately 100 community members on the steps of the Cass County Courthouse, Hamilton conveyed the appreciation of Burns’ family.
