Where the heart is: Residents raise funds, awareness for Heart Walk
 Staff photo by Tanner Spendley About 300 walkers showed up Saturday morning at Spring Lake Park to participate in the 2008 American Heart Association Heart Walk. The event raised money and awareness of heart disease and research. Jakob Fontenot, 4, who recently had open-heart surgery, raised a $1,695 contribution with some help from his family and friends, making him the largest individual fund-raiser for the Texarkana chapter. “We had far more than we had out here last year,” said Audrey Norwood, vice president of the association’s Arkansas and Oklahoma regions. This year’s Heart Walk brought out about 300 walkers on 19 teams from the Texarkana area. “Our aim is not just to be a fund-raiser but to bring out the educational materials,” said Norwood.
