Thirty-three area teachers were recognized Thursday as some of the best by members of the Texarkana Rotary Club during the 15th annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.

During Thursday’s luncheon the annual event was renamed the Cecil Phillips Annual Teacher Appreciation Awards.

“Thank you for choosing teaching as a profession. I think you’ve chosen one of the best professions in the world,” Dr. Stephen Hensley, president of Texas A&M University-Texarkana told the honorees during the event at First United Methodist Church, Arkansas. Hensley was the keynote speaker.
