A 40-year-old Redwater man was arrested last week and charged with sexual assault of a child, according to Bowie County court docket records.

The man surrendered to the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department at 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators said the sexual abuse was ongoing over a period of several months. The girl was 16 at the time. The rape was reported to authorities by the girl’s mother, said Bowie County Chief Deputy Larry Parker.
