About 900 members of the United Steelworkers Union at Domtar are now operating under a new four-year umbrella agreement. In all, the labor agreement covers 4,000 Domtar employees at 10 facilities.

“We’re very comfortable with it,” Don Davies, District 13 education coordinator and sub-district 2 staff representative said of the agreement. “It was ratified four to one.”

Domtar officials weren’t available for comment Friday.

Davies was most excited about what the deal meant for local union members’ health care coverage.
