The first Senior Oympics Day in Texarkana will be held Wednesday at Spring Lake Park.

The event is being sponsored by Dierksen Memorial Hospice in observance of national nursing home week and senior health month. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include games, a parade, a banner contest and a hay ride.

All of the nursing homes in the Texarkana area are invited to participate, said Annette Veal, marketing director for Dierkson Memorial Hospice.

She said participants will be able to compete in dominos, bingo, horse shoes and fishing.
