Texarkana, Texas, residents chose a new mayor and city council member in municipal elections Saturday night.

Ward 5 Council member Steve Mayo beat out Benjamin Dennis for the mayor’s seat, and Robin Court upset council incumbent George Nuckolls to represent Ward 6.

Early voting numbers showed Mayo with a quick lead of 563 votes over Dennis’ 64. Court also led Nuckolls in early voting by 178 ballots to 39.

In final results, Mayo received a total of 1,868 and Dennis received 409. Court received 576, while Nuckolls gathered 233 votes.
