Arkansas woman loses appeal on animal cruelty
The conviction of an Ashdown, Ark., woman on four counts of cruelty to animals concerning four Arabian horses was recently upheld by the Arkansas Court of Appeals.
The court upheld the conviction of Susan Whitman for abusing four Arabian horses. She was fined $4,000, or $1,000 per horse. Whitman originally was convicted in Little River County District Court, but appealed the decision to Little River County Circuit Court where a jury found her guilty again of cruelty to animals.
