The pets of the week are a black, white and brown female rat terrier in Cage D-7 and a female cat in Cage C-37 that was brought to the shelter as a stray.

The Texarkana Animal Shelter has 42 dogs and 39 cats for adoption, said a shelter official. There were six adoptions in the past week.

The fee to adopt dogs is $40. Cats can be adopted two for $40. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the shelter, 203 Harrison St. All animals have been wormed and received their seven-in-one shots. For more information, call the shelter at 870-773-6388.
