Two Genoa Central High School teachers have won top awards.

Alan Hays, science teacher at Genoa Central High School, has been selected as the Southwest Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative Mentor of the Year. The Arkansas Department of Education and the Office of Teacher Quality sponsored the award.

School officials said it is in recognition of the work Hays has done with novice teacher Larry Easley. The MOTY comes with a $500 cash award and expenses-paid trip to a mentoring conference in fall 2008.
