Tears and compliments flowed Tuesday night as Stephen Mayo was sworn in as the new mayor during the Texarkana, Texas, City Council meeting. Robin Court was also confirmed as the new representative of Ward 6.

The two were elected during Saturday’s election. Ward 1 representative Derrick McGary and Ward 3 council member Bob Bruggeman, both unopposed in the election, were also sworn in.

As former Mayor James Bramlett choked back tears, Mayo, City Manager Larry Sullivan and council members McGary, Bruggeman and George Nuckolls praised him for his service the past decade. Br...
