Volunteers needed for advocates program

A volunteer orientation session for Court Appointed Special Advocates will be 5:30 p.m. Monday in De Queen, Ark.

The session will be in Room 1 of the Fire Training Center at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas De Queen campus, said Steve Cole, a CASA volunteer and vice chancellor at Cossatot.

CASA is seeking volunteers to be advocates for neglected or abused children.

Volunteers will need to attend a 30-hour training course and be willing to serve for a year. The volunteers will also learn how to conduct interviews and make recommendatio...
