Arguments on whether to block construction at the site of a proposed coal-fired power plant in Hempstead County will be heard June 4-6, a federal judge said Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Harry F. Barnes told attorneys for the Hempstead County Hunting Club, which seeks a temporary restraining order against Southwestern Electric Power Co., that such a decision is “way too important” to make an immediate ruling.

“I want to make the right decision and not rule on the seat of my pants,” Barnes said.
