William Morriss is being recognized by the Boy Scouts of America for his service as a volunteer in the Southern Region.

Morriss, a lifelong Scout, will receive the Silver Antelope Award at the National Meeting of the Boy Scouts of America Thursday in San Diego.

“I’m not speechless very often, but I was when they announced that,” said Morriss, who was at the Southern Region board meeting when he received the news. “I was surprised to say the least. I am very honored.”
