The first lap of a long 12-hour night was led by the rumble of a NASCAR engine as nearly 160 cancer survivors took the first lap in the 2008 Relay for Life.

The walk to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society began at 6 p.m. Friday and will finish up at 6 a.m. today. This was the first year the event was held at the Four States Fairgrounds.

“I like having it here,” said Nancy Barth, event chair. “Everybody I’ve talked to likes the new venue, and it helps to have good weather.”
