The Conifer Area Council Girl Scouts is joining with four other councils in Arkansas to form one high-capacity Girl Scout council.

The move is part of a national initiative to better meet the needs of girls.

The Girl Scouts of Greater Arkansas, as the council will be called, will go into effect Oct. 1. Its main headquarters will be centrally located in Little Rock and a resolution was passed to keep service centers, like the one in Texarkana, open until the new council’s board of directors determines property needs.
