A skeleton was found in a shallow grave Monday near the border of Nevada and Hempstead counties, officials said.

Police believe the remains belong to Jon Michael Fincher, 38, of Hope, Ark., who has been missing for 20 months.

At 9:03 a.m. Monday, Nevada County Sheriff’s Office was contacted after a logging crew found a human skull.

“This is possibly a major break in the investigation into the whereabouts of Jon Michael Fincher,” said Sheriff Bobby Carlton on Monday.
