Miller County Sheriff-elect Ron Stovall said he is “anxious to get started” on the job.

Stovall, captain for the Arkansas State Police Troop G in Hope, was elected sheriff Tuesday from a field of five candidates. He received 3,437 votes or 52 percent. He only needed 50.01 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff.

“We’re extremely pleased and humbled by the support of the people in Miller County,” said Stovall, a resident of Texarkana, Ark.
