Preliminary results of the 2008 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills testing brought good news to the Texarkana Independent School District Board of Trustees Tuesday.

“We are so pleased that TISD has shown an improvement in every subject area that students were tested on,” said TISD Superintendent James Henry Russell. “One area of outstanding performance was the science scores with eighth grade science being included in the state’s accountability system for the first time and the passing standards higher as well.”
