A phone call from an 8-year-old asking for help for her injured cat has resulted in child abandonment charges for a Texarkana woman.

When officers with the Texarkana, Texas, Police Department were dispatched on Sept. 9, 2007, to a house on Jerome Street, they found the girl home alone. The girl had called police out of concern for her cat, according to a probable cause affidavit.
