A man who escaped through the roof of the Miller County jail in February while awaiting sentencing for robbing a bank, received seven-year prison sentence Thursday in federal court.

“I can tell you this for sure: If your conduct continues on the path that you’re on now, you’re going to spend a lot of time in prison, Federal Judge Harry Barnes of the Western District of Arkansas told Jason Thompson.

Before sentencing Thompson to serve 84 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release, Barnes described Thompson’s criminal history as “substantial.” ...
