Lockesburg, Ark., City Council recently hired a new water superintendent.

Charles Farmer was selected and will receive $11.50 per hour until the end of the year.

The council will perform an annual wage review and consider a pay increase.

The council voted unanimously to hire Farmer.

The council also agreed to pay motel fees for a week for Farmer until he can move into new housing. The motel expenses will be paid from the water account.

Justin Ruth was hired as a “water department helper” for $8 per hour.
