NEW BOSTON, Texas—In an unusual turn of events, the trial of one man ended with two men pleading guilty Wednesday afternoon in connection with a 2006 shootout in Texarkana, Texas.

Demarquis Marquette Thompson, 33, and Joseph Devon Jackson, 28, were both charged with deadly conduct involving a firearm after an Oct. 1, 2006, gunfight at the North Park Apartments in Texarkana, Texas, left both men bleeding from bullet wounds.

A grand jury indicted both men because of the danger they placed bystanders in when they opted to resolve a dispute between them with violence.
