The deadline to apply for state assistance for Miller County residents whose homes were damaged in the May 22 storm has been extended to Tuesday, June 17.

Because the storms were not part of a federal disaster declaration, residents with damage are not eligible for FEMA assistance, officials with the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management said.

ADEM advises those who have called the FEMA hotline regarding the May 22 storm should “re-apply for state assistance by contacting ADEM and Miller County Department of Human Services.”
