Judge’s order pits Longhorns against Razorbacks
A federal judge’s unusual order in a personal injury case against Wal-Mart has football fans in Texas and Arkansas buzzing.
Federal Judge James Nowlin of the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, issued an order June 3 concerning a dispute about where the deposition of a Wal-Mart executive was going to be held. To settle the issue, Nowlin ordered that the Wal-Mart executive be deposed by the plaintiff’s lawyer on the steps of the downtown post office in Texarkana which houses federal courtrooms for both states. “It is further ordered that each party i...
