Judge’s order pits Longhorns against Razorbacks

A federal judge’s unusual order in a personal injury case against Wal-Mart has football fans in Texas and Arkansas buzzing.

Federal Judge James Nowlin of the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, issued an order June 3 concerning a dispute about where the deposition of a Wal-Mart executive was going to be held.

To settle the issue, Nowlin ordered that the Wal-Mart executive be deposed by the plaintiff’s lawyer on the steps of the downtown post office in Texarkana which houses federal courtrooms for both states.
