Texarkana, Texas, Deputy Fire Marshal Chris Black graduated from the East Texas Police Academy on May 30 as the valedictorian.

Each officer completed more than 600 hours of academy training, and the graduation ceremony was held at the Pleasant Grove High School Performing Arts Center.

Black is an 11-year veteran with the Texarkana, Texas, Fire Department.
