Ross to meet with corps to discuss leasing of campgrounds

After hearing numerous campers’ complain about a proposal to lease campgrounds to private concessionaires at three Southwest Arkansas lakes, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., has requested a meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Ross is scheduled to meet June 19 with Col. Mike Wehr, commander of the Vicksburg District Corps of Engineers in Washington, D.C., to discuss alternative solutions to prevent the privatization of the public campgrounds.

The campgrounds are located at lakes Greeson, Ouachita and DeGray in Southwest Arkansas.
