After thousands of Texans spoke against the proposed Interstate 69, which was to come near Texarkana, the new trade route choice from Canada to Mexico is U.S. Highway 59.

Interstate 69 will slice the eastern side of Texas. The Texas Department of Transportation presented a broad expanse of land as a possibility for the corridor, then accepted public comments in the affected areas.
