The body of a Titus County, Texas, man was discovered Saturday morning in a pond on private property just off County Road 2460 near the Cookville community, officials said.

Shane Austin Turner, 25, was identified Monday following the initial investigation. Turner lived in a home adjacent to the pond where his body was found, said Chief Deputy Miguel Larsen of the Titus County Sheriff’s Department.

The cause of Turner’s death is believed to be drowning following preliminary reports from the medical examiner’s office. No evidence of trauma was found, Larsen said.
