TAMU-T history department announces ‘Best Paper’ winners

Kelly won the award-winning graduate paper in History for his paper “The Baron de Bastrop and his Colonization Efforts in Texas.” The Best Paper in History contest was sponsored by the TAMU-T history department and an anonymous donor.

For the first time since its inception, the Texas A&M University-Texarkana history department held a Best Paper in History Contest.

“There were a number of really good submissions,” said Dr. Michael Perri, assistant professor of history.

Perri said the contest was made possible by a private donation. He said students whose papers were selected were given a monetary award along with certificates.

Dr. Carl Lynn, a former professor of history at TAMU-T, selected the winners.
