A former Hempstead County, Ark., deputy prosecutor was killed in a one-vehicle crash in northeast Louisiana about 12:45 p.m. Sunday, according to a Louisiana State Police report.

John G. Burke, 42, of Hope was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision by the Ouachita Parish coroner.

The crash occurred in Ouachita Parish on Louisiana Highway 139 about a half mile from the Morehouse Parish border.

Burke was driving a 1987 BMW northbound on the highway when the car drove off the right side of the road in a curve, according to the report.
