Two local Texas school districts will hold elections Sept. 27 to determine the fate of proposed tax increases for teacher pay raises.

Texarkana Independent and Liberty-Eylau Independent school districts’ voters will head to polls on that date.

L-EISD officials received a slight peppering of questions during a public hearing Monday regarding the upcoming election.

“You’re looking from the administrative side but I’m looking from the well side,” an L-E resident said. “We want great teachers, but I think paying half a million dollars more is too much.”
