Little River County Deputy Prosecutor Jay Metzger of Ashdown, Ark., announced Monday he will be seek the position of the 9th Judicial District West Prosecuting Attorney.

He will be an independent candidate in the Nov. 4 general election. Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe issued a proclamation calling for a special election to replace Prosecuting Attorney Tom Cooper of Ashdown ,who resigned Monday due to possible conflicts in becoming circuit judge for the 9th West Judicial District.
