The Liberty-Eylau Indepen-dent School District is planning to spend more than $20 million in operation expenses for the upcoming school year.

The district’s board of trustees, during a special meeting Monday night, approved a $20,047,803 budget for fiscal year 2008-09.

The district plans to spend about $11.4 million on instruction, which accounts for the district’s largest expense.

Other major expenses include $2.6 million in plant maintenance and operation, $1.4 million in school leadership and about $1 million in general administration.
