At 15, Ariel Nixon may be one of the youngest philanthropists in Texarkana.

She started the Adopt-A-Freshman Student Aid Award this year and will help two freshmen with college expenses.

“I’ve watched my parents help other students and my sister go to college and I thought I could help students with some of the expense,” Ariel said.
