A newly organized Baptist association, El Bethel Baptist District Association, will host a welcoming program at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The event will be at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1615 Delaware St., with the Rev. Larry Jordan serving as moderator and speaker.

Since its inception, six churches have joined the association.

“Several local pastors and churches have come together to start this association, which will assist other churches in spiritual growth as they are led by the Spirit of God,” said Jordan.
