It looks like work on Texarkana Regional Airport’s new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Station won’t be affected by any short-term financial difficulties.

The Airport Authority Board recently accepted a federal grant of more than $2.4 million, which will pay for 95 percent of ARFF’s third phase of construction.

The first phase—the building’s design—is complete.

The second phase, the airport’s new emergency access road on the south side, is now more than 96 percent complete.
