Almost $1 million was recently awarded to public transportation systems in Texarkana and the surrounding counties.

The Texas Department of Transportation gave the bulk of the funding to the ArkTex Council of Governments for its rural transportation system.

TRAX buses serve residents of Bowie, Cass, Morris, Titus, Franklin, Hopkins, Red River, Delta and Lamar counties.

ATCOG received $618,699 in state funding. The money will be blended with almost $1 million from the Federal Transit Administration.
