The Texarkana, Ark., Planning Commission will tackle two controversial issues Tuesday—the proposed renaming of a portion of Ash Street after a famous athlete and commercial rezoning of 600 acres north of Interstate 30.

Commissioners are expected to make a recommendation on a citizen request to rename a portion of Ash Street to Willie Davis Avenue, in honor of an NFL Hall of Famer who grew up on the street.

Davis’ family proposed the renaming, which would affect 16 blocks including the Davis home at 810 Ash St.
