Texarkana Ark., City Manager Harold Boldt’s severance pay was extended from six to 12 months after a 4-3 vote Monday of the city’s Board of Directors.

After an 80-minute long executive session, board members narrowly passed the amendment to Boldt’s employment agreement.

Four votes are needed for the item to be approved.

Severance pay is given to someone if he or she is terminated from their job. The city manager, who oversees the city’s day-to-day operations, is hired and fired by the city board of directors.
